Review: Holika Holika Gudetama Lazy & Joy Jelly Dough Blusher

I'm sure a lot of yous would have seen Holika Holika's Gudetama line. Today I will be reviewing two of the Lazy & Joy Jelly Dough Blusher from that line. I got them in CR01 Grapefruit Jelly and RD01 Cherry Jelly. This was my first time trying out cushion blushers, so I was pretty excited (and a bit nervous bc clown face isn't cool).

About this product
1. A jelly dough type blusher that gives inside moisty, outside smooth & clear perfection.
2. No powder fly or float, it expresses clear and clean cheek by melting as if it is dyed on skin.
3. Jelly to Powder, Smooth and fluffy perfection.
4. Skin friendly Amino acid coating powder contained.

The outer packaging is definitely very adorable. There are two desserts with Gudetama's face on it, with the syrupe colour indicating the colour of the blush.
The plastic seal and cushion are both so cute! Now I'm tempted to buy all shades to see the pictures on the seals. The puffs have a plastic-y layer on it, which prevents the puffs from absorbing the product.
You can see the doughy texture :D
This is shade CR01, a very natural peach.

RD01 is a bold red with coral undertones. It's great if you want to experiment with some brighter blush colours.
Swatched, both colours are a lot lighter than in the pan, almost pastel-y. When blended in, CR01 is almost invisible.
Please note I applied a bit more than usual over a larger area so the camera can pick up the colour accurately. This how what RD01 looks like applied. It gives a flush look, and you can built the intensity up.
CR01 gives a natural sun kissed flush look. It's very peachy and I think will really suit people with medium, warm skin tones.
RD01 is on the left and CR01 is on the right. For people with a warm skin tone and like a more natural look, I definitely recommend CR01, though if you're more into the obvious blushed look, I recommend RD01. The colour is quite soft, but buildable without looking cakey.

Application wise, I personally prefer powder blushes because they're easier to apply. With cushion blushes, I have to take my time to really blend it in. With this blush, I found that when I apply, I remove some of my base makeup, though I guess the base makeup on the sponge helps to blend in the blush... The texture is obviously very soft and clay like, but when applied to the skin, it's surprisingly powdery.

There is a faint fruity smell, it's not overwhelming so I think even people who are sensitive to scents can wear this. The lasting power is alright, it lasted for around 5 hours before fading.

  • Cute, sturdy packaging
  • Buildable colour
  • Faint scent
  • Blendable and looks natural
  • Travel friendly - mirror and sponge contained
  • Affects base makeup
  • Only 4 colours available
  • Not very efficient to apply
I give these blushes a 3.5/5. I think if you're interested in trying out putty blushers, you should try these out. They're natural and great for everyday wear, but you can build the colour up if you want a more intense look.
